A bunch of clips of PRR K4s Pacifics doing what they always did best....I thought the original dubbed audio for these scenes was kinda dull so I dubbed in my own sounds using authentic PRR steam engine audio. Hope you like...and hope the guys at Green Frog don't mind. From "The Golden Twilight of Postwar Steam. Vol. I" by Green Frog Productions. www.greenfrog.com/

It's tragic that none of these were preserved. Absolutely spectacular machines. Perhaps someday we'll build another one.

I have been trackside at most all these locations in the Diesel era , the cinders are still a foot deep along the ROW .
this was the original horn from the Trainz new era
That’s not a horn. It’s a whistle.
If I'm not mistaken, this engine was actually more powerful than 'Big Boy' making it the most powerful steam locomotive of all.
I subscribed to this channel is because it shows my favorite steam locomotives that I want to restore and put back into service.
There’s something so fascinating about seeing these giants of the Pennsylvania Railroad in action
To possibly end the beauty🤩 debate over steam vs. diesel, please remember that the EMD Diesels were built by the Electromotive Division, a subsidiary of the General Motors Corporation, who gave America 🇺🇸 the Corvette, the GTO, and the Cadillac! thank you 🧑🎤 🏁 👩💼👩🎓
We seem to have a fair amount of “DIESEL DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!” Yes, steam locomotives 🚂 are usually more powerful than diesel, which needs multiple units sometimes to pull a train. But the cost 💲 of fuel (coal) and maintenance of steam and the boiler is overwhelming compared to the Diesel engine. Don’t believe me? Just go out on the highway 🛣 and you’ll see miles of 🚛 🚛 big rig trucks with diesel, not steam engines! If a particular railroad 🛤 wants to use steam, then they would have the facility and maintenance 👩🔧 👨🔧 shop available and be cost-effective. thank you 🧑🎤 🏁 👩💼👩🎓

This is about as fast as 1361 was allowed to go on the mainline. James McCann told me Conrail had a 35mph speed restriction for steam at this time. I hope she'll get to stretch her legs a bit more next time she operates, but I'm not gonna bet the farm on the idea.
Excursions for 1361 will be over short lines and regional railroad in and out of Pennsylvania.
Not this thing again...
It sounds like the Tatmr big engine puffing sound
Is she running on Everett trackage here? Or is this going back up the secondary?
1361 is being restored to operation at the Railroaders Memorial Museum. Once the restoration is complete, it will tour Pennsylvania and beyond and run excursion trains over short lines and regional railroads in the region.
Out of ideas express

KEYSTONE forever
Does anyone know what the name of that tune that’s playing in the background I can’t get it out of my head.
Cen you make video ebavt santa fe 3751
Us jamane me train ko itna speed nahi tha reel ko bhagaya hai
Bro 5035’s bell was spinning 360 degress
The opening shot blew my mind. Two huge steam engines, lurking on a siding. Such huge macines with simple steam generated power. Unbelievable but true. Great video! Thank you. P.j.signs Carpinteria Ca
Now THAT'S a BANSHEE!
Set playback speed to 1.25 and you’ve got standard video of 30fps
I always thought the I1's used the "Banshee" whistle...🤔
They did until later in their lives. As more passenger engines were displaced by diesels, more of their whistles made it onto freight engines
That engine is a HOSS, and a tough whistle to match! It brought those 100 cars right up to speed quickly! Bet it would give BigBoy a run for the money!
Oh my gawd cameras back then were still better than modern bank cams
Was this filmed with a helicopter?
This is how railroading should be
LOOKED LIKE MORE THAN 100
I am an old man, 83, who grew up in Port Jefferson, Long Island back in the 1940's and '50's. I remember the melodious Pennsy passenger whistles on the G-5's as well as the horrible, shreeking banshee whistles on the H-10's. When I was around 12 , through a few connections I had, I was able to ride around the yard at Port Jeff Station in H-10, No113 with an engineer I got to know. This was a very heady experience for a young boy ! When that firebox door opened, I saw the burning fires of Hell which flared up brightly with ever chuff of the engine. The early 1950's were the last days for steam on the Long Island. We all missed the whistles...
how long were the k4 pacifics without the tender? I'm just curious, I want to do a math experiment with tender-to-engine length ratios and coal and water capacities.
I bet the stoker is in full stride lol
You know if they had the Santa Fe 2-10-4 #5018 back to operation I would drive that locomotive pulling 100 freight cars with the Santa Fe caboose at the end of it that would be so awesome dude
That Santa Fe 2-10-4 5011 Texas steam locomotive number 5018 that's my favorite train
0:41 honestly sounds like CB&Q 4960’s original whistle.
O'll girl doing what she was designed to do thanks for posting may we hear that hooter whistle again some day
I love the Hudsons so much, especially the 20th Century limited streamlined ones, they are just so classic and sleek at the same time
Diesels suck 🤣
